children's health program

The children of important health issues

The health issues of children are always changing with time. Today our children face many new challenges and problems with their health and wellbeing.

Obesity
Obesity is perhaps the number one problem the United States child health. 16% of children aged 6 to 19 are considered overweight or obese (above 95 percentile of weight for height), with numbers continue to rise. There are several factors that play a role in this health problem of children: if the parent (s) are overweight, socioeconomic status, inactivity and nutrition (obviously). Hispanic youth are more likely to be overweight. Obesity in girls in particular, depends on their socioeconomic status, low-income if the probability of being overweight is significantly higher than if they are middle or upper class. The challenge we now face is how to prevent childhood obesity and help obese children and to lose weight. Unfortunately, children shame to lose weight, and some parents, can lead to eating disorders and emotional problems. Children and adolescents lose weight just as adults: they have to find a method that works for them, if it is going to a nutritionist or a weight loss camp. Most importantly, be active and have a support network are key factors.

ADHD
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a mental disorder common among children and adolescents and is one of the issues relating to child health. ADHD is characterized by impulsivity, hyperactivity and inattention. If ADHD is left untreated, can travel with the child in adulthood, making it more than half of children with this diagnosis, mental disorders represent more. According to the CDC, 7.5% of children 3-17 are diagnosed with ADHD, and 1 / 3 do not have the hyperactivity component. Learning to treat this disorder is very important in relation to helping their children cope with this life can have long mental disorder. A wide variety of drugs such as Ritalin, are often used. Behavioral therapy for children and parents is another very popular method. ADHD Treatment involves a lot of trial and error to discover which method of treatment will be best for your child or adolescent.

Teen Pregnancy
After a 14-year decline in teen pregnancies in United States, which are rising again. According to the CDC, in 2008 an overall national increase in teenage pregnancies by 3%. The increase in specific states, mainly Southern states showed a greater increase in the percentage of teenage pregnancies. Teenage mothers account for 11% of U.S. births. Experts are not sure why after 14 years, the rate of teenage mothers rose. The question is now how we can make it go down? It has been suggested that always present abstinence-only policy of sex education curricula should be redesigned and include instructions on how to have safe sex. Our daughters need good examples to help them overcome all the unrealistic expectations of society.

Autism
The Mayo Clinic describes autism as a severe developmental problem that usually occurs in children under 3 years of age with symptoms that range, all of which affect the child's ability to communicate and interact with others. Up to 6 of every 1000 children is affected with this disorder. The cases of autism are increasing, which could be explained by more accurate diagnosis, but professionals are not sure. In recent news, it has been suggested that autism may be associated with vaccines given children, children receive more vaccines than ever. Lack of vitamin D has also been suggested as a case of autism. In the world of medicine, there are many speculations what causes autism, however, has not been a proven trigger for the disease. Autism is very similar in relation to ADHD there is no standard treatment, but which depends heavily on the individual. Depending on the severity of diagnosis, occupational therapy and / or behavior therapy are the first places to start. Parents also are encouraged to participate in treatment programs to learn the best ways of dealing with this diagnosis.

It’s a sad fact that children nowadays spend less time outdoors and more time in front of the computer, playing useless computer games. The enigma these computer games create to make your 8 year olds addicted gamers! However, do not surrender just yet—there is still hope. You can draw your children outside through outdoor toys 8 years old!

Children need plenty of physical exercise and sunshine. Summer is vastly approaching, and the more they need their work out! Obesity rates among children have continually increased, partly due to the new habit of kids preferring to stare at the monitor screen all day. This is why you, as parent, must encourage your kids to go outside and play.

There are a number of outdoor toys 8 year olds will love. These toys encourage physical exercise. Some examples include trampolines, which is very popular with children whatever the age. They can spend hours and hours jumping up and down, learning tricks like summersaults. Without them realizing it, they are now engaging in exercise and burning up calories! Other outdoor toys 8 year olds love are jumping ropes and hula hoops, which require skill, coordination and endurance.

Outdoor toy 8 year olds will love include bikes and scooters. Give them a sense of freedom by letting the own their own vehicle. Another option is a climbing frame, which you can design according to your children’s needs and capabilities. It is constructed from wood or metal, and can include features like slides, sings, playhouses, monkey bars, ladders and more. Your 8 year old will enjoy climbing up and down, running here and there, that they won’t realize that they are working out in the process.

If that does not convince you to buy outdoor toys now, maybe this will: plenty of Vitamin D for your child. Vitamin D is integral for children’s growth and essential for the development of the bones and teeth. Having a deficiency in Vitamin D can result in Rickets Disease, causing deformity in the bones and teeth. Vitamin D is vital for the absorption of sufficient calcium.

Outdoor toys 8 year olds can serve as social glue for kids. Many outdoor games require them to play with more than one person. Games are always more enjoyable when played with another child. Thus, by engaging in outdoor games and toys, your child learns integral social and communication skills for they make new friends in the playing process.

Outdoor toys 8 year olds also encourage imagination and creativity. Outdoor games need children’s imaginations to create an entertainment, and in turn help greatly in your kids’ cognitive development. Thus, outdoor toys develop the following skills: cognitive, motor, logical thinking and coordination.

Do not ever take for granted the importance of keeping your children outside to get the needed vitamins and exercise. Today, children are spending more and more time indoors which is unhealthy. At least this summer, encourage your 8 year olds to get out and enjoy the sunshine with friends.
