Organic pill that kills the appetite and attacks obesity

As Reported by prominent journalist Tom Mangold BBC Two Correspondent, these are results and appointments, it is interesting that:

An organic pill that kills the appetite and attacks obesity. It has no known side effects, and contains a molecule that fools your brain into believing you are full.

Inside the African Kalahari desert, grows an ugly cactus called Hoodia. Prospera in extremely high temperatures and takes years to mature.

The San Bushmen of the Kalahari, a tribe's oldest and most primitive of the world had been eating the Hoodia for thousands of years to stave off hunger during long hunting trips.

When South African scientists were routinely tests, which discovered the plant contained a previously unknown molecule, which has since been christened P 57.

The license was sold to a company biopharmaceutical Cambridgeshire, Phytopharm, who in turn sold the development and marketing rights to the giant Pfizer Corporation.

Fortune cactus

A molecule in the cactus makes you feel full. When I traveled to the Kalahari, I met families of the San Bushmen. A tribe is sad, poor and displaced, still do not know who are sitting on top of a gold mine. But if the Hoodia works, the 100,000 San strung along the edge of the Kalahari will become overnight millionaires in royalties negotiated by their South African lawyer Roger Chennells.

And they will need all the help I can get the money. Currently, many bushmen smoke large amounts of marijuana, suffer from alcoholism, and have neither possessions nor any sense of the value of money.
The truth is that no one has fully understood what magic molecule means for their counterparts in the developed world.

Blood sugar

According to the British Heart Foundation 17% of men and 21% of women are obese, while 46% of men and 32% of women are overweight.

So the marketing potential drug speaks for itself.
Phytopharm Dr. Richard Dixey explained how P.57 actually works. "There is a part of your brain, the hypothalamus part of the midbrain which are the nerve cells that the sugar glucose.

"When you eat, blood sugar goes up the food, these cells start firing and now are full. "What the Hoodia seems to contain is a molecule that is about 10,000 times as active as glucose." It goes to the mid-brain and makes nerve cells fire as if they were full. But you have not eaten. Neither wants. "

Clinical trials

Dixey organized the first animal Hoodia tests. Rats, a species that eat literally anything, stopped eating completely. When the first human clinical trial was conducted, a group morbidly obese people were placed in a "phase 1 unit", a place as close to prison as it gets.

All Volunteers are do all day was read papers, watch television and eat. Half were given Hoodia, half placebo. Fifteen days later, the Hoodia group had reduced their calorie intake by 1000 a day.

It was a stunning success.

The cactus test

To see ourselves we went into the desert, four hours north of Cape Town in search of the cactus. Once there, he found an unattractive plant which sprouts about 10 tentacles, and is the size of a long cucumber.

Each tentacle is covered in spikes which need to be carefully peeled. The San finally get rid of thousands of years oppression, poverty, social isolation and discrimination

Roger Chennells, lawyer
Inside is a slightly unpleasant taste, fleshy plant.
At about 1800hrs I ate half a banana size – and later so did my cameraman.

Soon after, we began the four hour trip back to Cape Town. The plant is said to have a sense of being almost aphrodisiac quality, and I have to say it felt good.

But more importantly, neither even think about food. Our brains really were telling us they were full. It was a magnificent deception. Dinner came and went. We reached our hotel at about midnight and went to bed without eating. And the next day, none of us wanted breakfast.

I ate lunch but without appetite and very little pleasure. Partial then normal appetite returned slowly after 24 hours.

Mr Chennells future is ecstatic:

"The San finally releasing thousands of years of oppression, poverty, social isolation and discrimination. "We will create trust funds with their Hoodia copyright and children will join the middle classes of South Africa in our lives.

"I envisage Hoodia cafes in London and New York, salads are served and the Hoodia cut like cucumber in the salad. "flavorings will counteract their bad taste, but if you have no side effects and no cumulative side effects."

children's health temperature
Ignorance is bliss?

Why do many people to justify doing things that are known to be hazardous, ie smoking during pregnancy, inducing labor with castor oil, etc, by saying "I smoked for nine months and my baby was fine" or "who worked for a friend and not had problems. "I liken it to say" My friend took 100 MPH on the dirt road and crashed into a tree, but survived. I'll be fine if I the same "or" I ate that sandwich with mayonnaise left in the car all day with temperatures reaching 120 and not get food poisoning so it does not. "You and / or your friends may have been lucky, but why take the risk when it comes to the health of your child?

If I live, people has options to do what they want, I could not agree with what they do, but there will come a time when you do something stupid and people will think the same about you. As just enjoy your own life, living the moment, but live responsibly and stop worrying about the lives of other peoples and other options.

child obesity in oregon
Are you eating too much?

According to the latest research from the Oregon National Primate Research Center in Hillsboro, overeating during pregnancy may have health impacts on an unborn child.

The research was led by Dr. Kevin Grove, a scientist in ONPRC’s Division of Neuroscience. Grove just returned from Australia where he presented his lab’s latest research results at the prestigious 10th International Congress on Obesity.

The research demonstrated that the offspring of mothers who overeat are at risk for liver and pancreas damage, both of which can contribute to early-onset obesity and diabetes.

WHAT IS THE MAKE EXCUSE GIVEN BY PREGNANT WOMEN TO JUSTIFY EATING ABOVE AVERAGE AMOUNTS OF FOOD, BESIDES I’M HUNGRY?????????

No judgement hear, I just think some may be funny.

I always gained an insane amount of weight with my first 2 pregnancies, i didnt know how to eat well at that time, i do now.

Im 5 1/2 months pregnant with 3rd child and my weight is right on target for being how far along i am.

My first 2 children are just fine and not fat. And i wasnt fat after i had both of them either. I went back to my orginal 135-140 weight before i got pregnant with both of them.

It could not be eating above average amounts of food for some, they just may not eat very good foods sometimes. Who knows, some women just eat and get fat because its an excuse to be fat.

Gastric bypass?

Earlier I asked a lengthy quesiton in the pregnancy forum about my story but I think maybe I should have come straight to the point. Has anyone had gastric bypass surgery? Was it helpful/effective for you in battling obesity? Would you do it again? I am currently pregnant with my second child (both children will be 14 months apart in age). I have been morbidly obese since puberty and both of my parents are exactly the same and have heart disease, diabetes, and health problems from weight. I am lucky that I haven’t developed any of it and plan to have this procedure a year or so after I have this baby (May 2008). So if you have any advice or experience with this procedue please share.
This will be my last pregnancy and our family is complete which is why I considered having the procedure.

I had gastric bypass surgery in April 2005. I started out at 268, now I’m 180 and holding, after 1 year and 7 months. These links will help you in many ways to make a decision if this is for you or not. I vote yes, because it made such a difference in my life. I was taking 8 pills a day, and after my surgery, I lost my diabetes. The way they do the surgery, takes your diabetes away. I no longer have to take glucophage, and I no longer have high Cholesterol or high blood pressure. I’m down to 2 pills a day. I went from a size 26-28 to a 16-18.
Most people struggle with paying for the surgery. Go to this site, it is a great support system for you, because it’s only people who have had gastric bypass. Every insurance program has been rated, and you’ll get tips on how to deal with your insurance company, as well as, surgery tips, food tips, and just support. http://www.obesityhelp.com/

Vitamins I take… you have to be very faithful about taking them after surgery, because you can become very sick if you don’t. There were recommended by my surgeon and nutritionist.

There is a very good web site by a guy named Basil White. He’s a govt. worker and a comedian. He walks you through everything. Very interesting. He had the surgery and did well.
